![]() ![]() Is it relevant now when women are fighting for equal rights? May be it is time to re-write these shlokas to suit present times. How come this shloka is not heard so often? Is it because we believe a man is perfect as he is and he doesn't need to change in any way after wedding? Then why so many expectations from women? When I read these shlokas, I wasn't sure if these are relevant now, in 21st century, where women are strong, independent and have a mind of their own. Shatkarmayuktha: one who has all these virtues Sukha dukha mitra: should be like a friend to wife and share her happiness and sorrows and give her emotional support. Kshamayathu Rama: have patience like Lord Rama.īhojyeshu truptha: Never criticize food prepared by wife. ![]() Rupecha Krishna: smart like Lord Krishna with a smile always on the face. ![]() Karaneshu Daksha: competent like Daksha prajapathi and maintain family with patience and coordination. Karyeshu yogi: should always do good work and have a balance in life. So I searched online and found that in Kamandana Neeti Shastra, there is a shloka for men and it goes like this: I heard this shloka multiple times from elders and also in movies and the feminist in me always wondered if there are any verses that describe how an ideal husband should be. Basically the shloka describes 6 noble virtues of a wife and it means a good wife will work like a maid, give advice like a minister, feed like a mother, please in bed like heavenly beauty Rambha, look pretty like goddess Lakshmi, and have patience like earth. " Karyeshu dasi, karaneshu mantri, bhojeshu mata, shayaneshu Rambha, roopeshu Lakshmi, kshamayeshu Dharitri, Shat dharmayuktha kuladharma patni". Have you ever heard of this shloka? This is written by a poet named, Baddena, in 13th century as a part of Neeti Shastra. ![]()
